Associate Professor of Finance
Dr. Xuewu (Wesley) Wang earned his Ph.D. in Finance from the University of Michigan Ross School of Business in 2008. Since then, he has taught at the University of Scranton, Bucknell University, and the University of Oklahoma. He joined Quinnipiac University as an associate professor of finance in 2018.
His research area is mainly in insider trading and behavioral finance. He has maintained an active research agenda and published quite a few papers in quality finance journals including the Journal of Banking and Finance, Journal of Portfolio Management, Journal of Futures Markets, Journal of Behavioral Finance, and European Financial Management. He has attended and presented research papers in many finance conferences regularly.
He has taught a variety of finance courses including Introduction to Finance, Investment Analysis, Fixed Income Securities and Markets, Financial Modeling, and Financial Markets and Institutions both at the undergraduate and graduate level. He would view himself as a passionate, dynamic, and engaging teacher. His teaching relies heavily on Microsoft Excel. He enjoys relating teaching materials to the real-world financial markets. He has consistently earned high teaching evaluations from his students.
He is keen on providing meaningful and student-centered service to the community. He is currently serving as the director for the Terry W. Goodwin '67 Financial Technology Center at the School of Business and the faculty advisor for the Student Investment Club. He also led a Quinnipiac University team to compete for the College Fed Challenge in Boston Federal Reserve Bank. He will be leading a team to compete in the annual CFA Investment Research Challenge competition.
