Rachel Pata serves as a Clinical Associate Professor in the Physical Therapy Department and has been part of the full-time faculty for the past 8 years. She earned an MPT degree from Quinnipiac University in 2001, a DPT from Simmons College in 2008 and a board certification as a Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Specialist from the APTA in 2014. She teaches in the content areas of Acute Care/Cardiopulmonary and Anatomy. Additionally, she serves as a preceptor for student integrated clinical visits and as the Simulation Director for the School of Health Sciences. She continues her clinical practice at St. Mary’s Hospital in Waterbury, CT. She maintains an active research agenda on the cardiovascular implications of exercise and overtraining in athletes. She recently published “Impact of Age on Heamatological Markers Pre- and Post-Marathon Running”, “Common Electrocardiogram Variation Pre- and Post-Marathon” and “Kidney Injury and Repair Biomarkers in Marathon Runners”. She has presented research at national ACSM and APTA conferences and, was awarded the Quinnipiac University, School of Health Science Emerging Scholar award in 2015. She is very enthusiastic about teaching and the profession of Physical Therapy.
