Elizabeth S. Tanaka is a Visiting Assistant Professor of Legal Writing at Quinnipiac University School of Law. She teaches courses related to research, writing, and oral advocacy. She also serves as the director of a project at the QUSL Center on Dispute Resolution.

After graduating from QUSL, Professor Tanaka served as a law clerk for Justice C. Ian McLachlan and Judge Bethany J. Alvord, at the Connecticut Appellate Court. Before joining the faculty, Professor Tanaka was an Assistant State’s Attorney. She represented the State of Connecticut in the prosecution of serious felonies and complex financial crimes, in trial and appellate courts.

Professor Tanaka is admitted to practice in Connecticut, Hawaii, New York, and the District of Connecticut. She is a member of the Association of Legal Writing Directors, Connecticut Asian Pacific American Bar Association, and the Legal Writing Institute. She has taught undergraduate courses in forensic science and conspiracy theories.
